Before departure | Visit by the Wakayama delegation
On 14 April 2025, Ms. Chizu and committee member Mr. Taichi Tsujimoto from the Wakayama committee came to Taiwan for six days to finalise the May school exchanges. On the first day they visited Hsinchu Dongyuan and Yangguang Elementary Schools and felt how much the students and teachers were looking forward to the trip.

Before departure | A string welcome
The children welcomed their visitors with a string ensemble.

Before departure | Encouragement for the students
Mr. Tsujimoto spoke to the students and encouraged them before their trip to Japan.
Welcome with a flower arch
52 children from two Hsinchu schools were welcomed with a flower arch and applause.
Sunayama performs
A sixth-grade ensemble played "Zenzenzense" and the whole school sang "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana".
Taiwan performs
The Taiwanese students played "My Neighbor Totoro", Taiwanese folk songs and "YMCA".
Exchange of gifts
The two schools exchanged presents.
Time in classrooms
In the second period they split into classes: introductions, origami, cat's cradle and tag. Pupils used English, gestures and translation software to get their message across.

Taiwanese students on stage
Wearing matching team shirts, the Taiwanese students performed on the school stage for their Japanese hosts.

Shared school lunch
The children shared a school lunch with Japanese pupils and experienced everyday school life in Japan.
Make your school the next batch
Each batch is a school whose children bring their own music into Japanese classrooms and onto a real stage.
A formal concert-hall performance
Beyond the classroom exchange, students take the stage of a concert hall in Wakayama and perform together with Japanese students.
Certificate of honour and official record
Students receive a certificate of honour and a souvenir at the city council, and the organising committee issues a participation certificate that records the performance and exchange.

- Review
Places and schedules depend on the school year and the host schools in Japan. Feel free to ask first.
On the Taiwan side, the Lexuan Foundation co-organises and coordinates the programme as the administrative and communication window for Taiwanese schools — exchange applications, documents, pre-departure preparation and liaison with the board of education in Japan are handled in one place.
